# Random Number Generator (RNG)
To ensure fairness and transparency in the distribution of rewards, Agora’s Loot Box System integrates with [ChainLink's Verifiable Random Function (VRF)](https://docs.chain.link/vrf/).
The Loot Box System smart contract sources randomness from ChainLink VRF (Verifiable Random Function), a widely trusted oracle service that provides provably fair and verifiable random numbers. This ensures the integrity of random-based operations like lotteries or the distribution of digital assets in Loot Boxes.
The process begins when a request for randomness is sent from the Loot Box smart contract to the ChainLink VRF. The VRF then generates a random number and provides a cryptographic proof of the randomness, which is verifiable by anyone. This ensures that the process is tamper-proof and transparent, providing confidence in the fairness of the outcome. The random number is then used within the LootBox contract to determine the state transitions of the NFTs, such as from “Loot Box” state to “Gem” or “Golden Ticket”, and eventually to a Burned state after the prize allocation.
This system is part of what makes Agora's ecosystem trustworthy and secure, as it guarantees that the outcomes of each Loot Box campaign cannot be manipulated or predicted by any party, including the game developers themselves.
# Loot Box smart contract
The LootBox smart contract, compatible with EVM and written in Solidity, implements the ERC721 protocol and lottery logic. For generating pure random numbers, it integrates with ChainLink VRF. The contract is deployed through a modified Upgradable Proxy mechanism that supports multiple implementations concurrently. Key modules include:
* ERC721 implementation: Each loot box is an NFT, capable of changing states: LootBox -> Gem or Golden Ticket -> Burned. An intermediate locked state exists during the random number request. In its Gem or Golden Ticket state, it functions as a regular, tradable NFT.
* Prize Register: This module stores information about available prizes and their probabilities.
* Jackpot’s pool: Responsible for collecting and distributing jackpot prizes.
* Sale module: Manages the sale of loot boxes.
* Signature module: Verifies signatures of free tickets.
* Random module: Integrates with ChainLink VRF for getting random numbers.
* Admin module: Provides an API for managing prizes, prices, and probabilities, with a role-based security system.
# Loot Box Vault
Some or all prizes may be issued on different blockchains. For instance, a loot box launched in Arbitrum may have a grand prize issued in Ethereum. To support this case each Loot Box has an embedded vault and peripheral vaults on different blockchains, one for each if they contain played prizes.
The Vault, compatible with EVM or WASM, has one primary function - to hold prizes until winners withdraw them. It also features an optimised method for withdrawing all prizes and accumulated tokens in a single transaction. Thus should decrease usage of gas.
Prize withdrawal verification is ensured by checking provided signatures, which cover chain ID, user account, and prize details, guaranteeing the right person receives the correct prize. To prevent double spending, each prize has a unique ID that can only be used once. The vault controls it.

To make the boost meaningful, it is necessary to ensure that the profitability of purchasing boosts is equivalent or higher than simply purchasing additional boxes.
